Triple-Junction Cells
AZUR SPACE has already delivered over 5 million triple-junction solar cells in a variety of dimensions to a wide range of customers. These triple-junction cells comprise a GaInP, GaAs andGe subcell on Ge substrate. The 3G30-Advanced product family (efficiency class 30%) includes AZUR’s proprietary radiation-hardening design and offers first grade EOL-performance values for a 3-junction design at low cell mass and lowest prices per watt. Various designs of the 3G30 family have been qualified in alignment with ECSS standards. The cell should be combined with an external bypass diode for protection within a cell string.
Assemblies
Solar cell assemblies (SCAs) are space solutions with a higher integration level. Based on our high-efficiency solar cells of the 3G30 or 4G32 product families, the assemblies are additionally equipped with space grade cover glasses, a bypass diode and offer a variety of electrical interconnectors. All materials and components are space-qualified and various SCA designs have been qualified in alignment with ECSS and AIAA standards.
Quadruple Junction Cells
AZUR SPACE produces an AlInGaP/AlInGaAs/InGaAs/Ge on Ge substrate quadruple-junction solar cell product family 4G32-Advanced (efficiency class 32%) including AZUR’s proprietary radiation-hardening design offering best-in-class power at EOL, low cell mass at reduced substrate thickness and highest power per area by superior utilisation of the solar spectrum. At the same time these cells offer extraordinary high voltages and enable superior panel layouts. Various designs of the 4G32 family have been qualified in alignment with ECSS and AIAA standards.The cell should be combined with an external bypass diode for protection within a cell string.
Triple-Junction CPV
5N Plus produces an InGaP/InGaAs/Ge on Ge substrate triple- junction CPV solar cell product family 3C44-Advanced (efficiency class 44%) including AZUR’s proprietary design to operate at highest concentration levels (1000 suns and more). The 3C44 offers high conversion efficiencies at low $/W levels.
Quintuple-Junction CPV
5N Plus produces an AlInGaP/InGaP/AlInGaAs/InGaAs/Ge on Ge substrate quintuple-junction solar cell product family 5C46-Advanced (efficiency class 46%) including AZUR’s proprietary metamorphic design offering best-in-class power by superior utilisation of the solar spectrum, especially at CPV operating condictions. At the same time these cells offer lower operating temperatures and extraordinary high voltages and hence enable high-efficiency module designs.
Enhanced Fresnel Assemblies
EFAs mount our 3C44 or 5C46 CPV solar cells onto a heat sink with integrated contacts for further module interconnection and a secondary optical lens to further concentrate and homogenize the incoming concentrated sunlight.
